-

A gate-guard-turned-captain-turned-shopkeeper with a fondness for fried sausages. Married to [info]telperina, and father of [info]gondolin_kid, aka Tuilo Langollo, as well as little Expecting. Recently returned from a long scouting mission in Beleriand, where he lost his frying pan and nearly his life.

Backstory: Halatir's family were strong supporters of Fëanor from the beginning. Halatir initially trained as a smith, but found that he was better with a sword when Fëanor put one in his hand. He fought and killed at Alqualondë, and crossed the sea in the Fëanorian ships after the Kinslaying, while his wife, for reasons best known to her, followed him across the Grinding Ice. Trying to put the past behind him, he ended up in Gondolin, and as such carries something of a social stigma as a Feanorian in Turgon's city. This has pushed him into a military career, in which he frequently asks postings on the outer gates doing the lonelier kind of guard duty. One of his deepest fears is that he enjoys fighting - if not, his thought is, why does he remain in the military despite the strain his work puts on his family? He tries to rationalise this in other ways, and as a result comes across as extremely loyal to the King or whichever Lord he is serving (possibly the reason for his improbable promotion to King's Captain). He does, however, have buried rebellious tendencies and would support the LoUTs if he were not so cynical about their chances of success.

Halatir is not a sociable creature, possibly because of a percieved idea he has that everyone is thinking 'Kinslayer' while smiling at him, or as a result of his long, quiet years as a watchman on the outer gates. He has a few friends, most of whom he met in the pub or at work. He dislikes all the nobles apart from Duilin, and is glad to have escaped from his brief encounter with high society from when he was captain.
